Himmat Shah

Brief Profile: Himmat Shah was born in Lothal, Gujarat in 1933 and grew up in surrounded by the remnants of a prominent port city of Indus Valley Civilization. He moved to Bhavnagar as a young boy. He is one of the most acclaimed artists of India whose work encompasses both painting and sculptures. He creates his own methodology to demonstrate the realities of life. He is well known for his abstracted bronze and terracotta heads that are now considered his signature style.
Qualification: 1967 Studied under S. W. Hayter and Krishna Reddy, Atelier 17, Paris
1961 Worked under Professor N.S Bendre, Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda
1953 Drawing Teacher's Course, Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai
