Gurdeep Singh Indian, b. 1975
“The very act of painting represents zooming in and zooming out of comprehensive state of mind. Generation and degeneration of pigment implies its presence in basic-formalistic abstraction. The intuitive and instinctive use of brush work shows different dualities in dynamically constructed spaces of opposites, textured versus smooth, thin versus thick, spontaneous versus deliberate, organic versus inorganic, transparent versus opaque and philosophical facts versus mysteries and scientific versus spiritual.”
Gurdeep Singh is an abstract painter renowned for his vibrant and colourful works. His paintings are imbued with philosophical and spiritual undertones that explore the complexities of the human mind and the dualities of existence. Through his work, Gurdeep seeks to reconcile the scientific with the spiritual and the philosophical with the mysterious.
Gurdeep received his BFA in Painting from the Government College of Art, Chandigarh, and his MFA in Painting from the College of Art in New Delhi. He has exhibited extensively in major cities in India, Germany, Bangladesh, Austria, the US, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
