The horse with a large wide eye, Jamini instead of drawing a horse with a masculine assertiveness, here his subject resembles a toy. The spontaneity of the stokes makes it more animated and livelier. One can trace the impetus of ruler folk art of Bengal and the terracotta of Bishnupur to the artist. With his calligraphic control over brush, this piece prolifically depicts the innocence and romanticism of the rural environment.
