Overview

Manoj Mitra was born in 1953 in Kolkata. He graduated from the Government College of Art and Craft. His creations possess spontaneity, while the watercolours have a kind of softness and flow, making them seem poetic. He takes references from Hindu mythology for some of his artworks, albeit his pieces are highly imaginative.
His works are in the collections of Lalit Kala Academy in New Delhi and the Glenbrra Art Museum in Japan. He has won numerous awards throughout his career.
