Jamini Roy's "Man on Horseback" features a stylized folk figure riding a richly adorned horse, rendered in bold, flat colours and simplified forms. Roy's use of traditional motifs and dynamic lines prompts a sense of movement and storytelling, seizing the essence of rural Indian life. Roy's oeuvre is significant for its homage to indigenous art forms, seamlessly blending with modernist aesthetics and reviving traditions with a contemporary visual language.
