In a vivid panorama that depicts the ghats and temples of Banaras hugging the holy rivers banks, Paresh Maity recreates a bustling foreground of boats and buildings. In the distance, faint spires can be seen under a molten sky through which the moon rides leaving behind a river of light in its wake. The unusual colours of the painting were glimpsed by the artist on a recent visit, inspiring the making of this painting.
