Dipak Banerjee’s "Mahavir 2" illustrates a confined figure in a standing enlightened pose surrounded by elaborate enclosures and motifs filled with mandalas, yantras, and primordial elements of a theological theory. In addition, the surrounding mandalas depict the stages of evolution towards enlightenment and elements from Jain mythology. Banerjee’s awareness of spiritual concepts coupled with his adeptness at translating them into visual representation imbues this work with the accurate essence of Jainism's 24th tirthankar.
