Himmat Shah, born in Gujarat was previously trained to be an art teacher but in turn, he joined the Faculty of Fine Arts, at MSU Baroda. He was sculpting ever since he was a kid, he would make sculptures out of mud which he would purchase from his village’s potter at 60 paise. His sculptures are eccentric in appearance, but this is intentional. The humanistic sculptures that Shah sculpts speak of self-deprecation and talk about aging and decay. His beliefs lie in the philosophy of existentialism.
