Ashok Bhowmick is a renowned artist from Kanpur, India, whose works mainly display cross-hatching techniques. He graduated from Kanpur University in 1973 and received his Diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata. Influences of cave paintings and the Bronze Age artifacts and from the Indus Valley Civilization are evident. His colour palette is a medley of dark and bright block-coloured backgrounds. His artworks often show a stark contrast between the brightly painted backdrop and monochrome cross-hatched figurations.
He has received numerous awards for his works, he has exhibited in various group and solo exhibitions worldwide.
