"Art inspires me to live. I live for art and cannot live without it."
- Shipra Bhattacharya
Shipra Bhattacharya, born in Kolkata, is an Indian contemporary artist known for her unique exploration of women's issues through her art. She received her education in the arts from the College of Arts and Crafts and the College of Visual Arts in Kolkata. Bhattacharya's work is distinguishable by her application of predominantly primary block yet soft colours. A busy and textured foreground and middle ground with patterns and natural motifs are plateaued by a serenely juxtapositioned middle and background, which display female figurations.
Bhattacharya has been a part of numerous group shows across boundaries, and she has gained much critical acclaim for her unique style and contribution to the contemporary art scene.
