Nandan Purkayastha Indian, b. 1986
111.8 x 111.8 cm
Meandering on a cubist method partially and deriving an inherent language inspired by the local tradition, Nandan Purkayastha's work of art in his stylised contours intricately weaves an allegorical, mythological, and theatrical narrative. In a mesmerising monochromatic composition, the figures propel a thought of motion in the viewers' mind, as if they would start conversing histrionically evoking the mood of the scene. The swirling lines and textured background bring a certain liveness to the two enigmatic figures who are engrossed in a secret talk that only characters in an unspoken posture know.
