Sanjay Bhattacharya Indian, b. 1958

Overview
"A man has two options in life. Either to travel from one point to another without looking left or right or to soak everything on the way. The latter can make your life difficult but more enriching too."
                                                                                                     - Sanjay Bhattacharya

Being a graduate of the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata, Sanjay Bhattacharya worked as a freelance illustrator for multiple advertisement agencies. He knew he was an artist very early on in his life.
He is a versatile artist who creates varied themes from urban contemporary life to documenting his travels.
His works are mainly figurations, contemporary exploratory figurations.
Being a student of Bikash Bhattacharya, Sanjay Bhattacharya plays with the dramaticism of light and shadows, much like the artists of Dutch realism.
His paintings display an earthy, pigmented colour palette with minimal texturing and dramatic highlights and shadows. His artworks perfectly capture moments and his travels on a canvas. Bhattacharya majorly dabbles in oil and watercolours.
