Anwar Khan Indian, b. 1964

Overview

"I wish to realize what the colors have to offer in a certain moment. I wait for the things to happen and pervade my picture space, which was empty before their arrival, and would remain empty if resonances of a happening have not left their marks on it."

- Anwar Khan

Born in 1964 in Ambha, Madhya Pradesh, Anwar Khan is an Indian modern artist.
Creating tactile pieces is an integral part of his practice. His manner of breaking the monotonous smoothness of his painting by creating rifting textures gives his paintings a transient feel. Anwar's art practice could be seen as highly spiritual.
The colour scheme of his paintings works on the principle of polarity, which goes hand-in-hand with his texturing.
He has part of a handful of group exhibitions and one solo show. He has earned awards like the National Award by Lalit Kala Akademi.
