Presented by Sanchit Art, Fluid Emotions: Distilled Ecstasy marked the first solo exhibition of Deveshi Goswami at Shridharani Gallery, before moving to the gallery space at DLF South Square Mall. Curated by Arun Ghose, the exhibition presented recent works exploring the balance between free-flowing abstraction and restrained structure.
The feature highlighted Goswami’s process-driven practice, where spontaneous gestures and layered colours gradually evolve into harmonious abstract compositions. As noted in the curatorial text, her works “resonate with the playful abundance of a carefully regimented palette,” with unprimed paper acting as a fertile surface upon which fluid forms emerge intuitively.
Born into a deeply artistic environment as the daughter of Neeraj Goswami, the artist’s practice reflects an atmosphere of introspection and spirituality. Speaking about her process, Goswami described her paintings as beginning “with play,” where “an abundance of colours” creates a dynamic visual field before line drawings bring balance, harmony, and what she calls “a distilled ecstasy.”
The interview further explored her experimental approach to materiality, incorporating acrylics, charcoal, pastels, emulsion paint, sand, and found objects to create textured surfaces and layered visual experiences.
