Overview

"Picasso's works and methods taught me more than what I was prepared for      and it took me some time to assimilate the concepts and integrate them with      my own work."

- Paritosh Sen

Paritosh Sen (1918–2008) was an eminent Indian artist, writer, tutor, and illustrator known for his bold, stylized strokes and unique socio‑political caricatures. Born in Dhaka (now Bangladesh), he completed his diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai, and became a key figure in modern Indian art.

Sen’s artworks have a whimsical look and an expressionistic feel, with exaggerated facial and bodily features that amplify their social and political commentary. His colour scheme varies according to the emotion he chooses to portray, ranging from muted, somber tones to vivid, intense hues that heighten the emotional impact of his caricatures.

A decorated artist, Paritosh Sen exhibited in various countries and his works have been auctioned extensively in India. His paintings, drawings, and prints are held in important public and private collections, and he remains recognized for his sharp, expressive critique of society through a distinctly modern Indian visual language.
