Paresh Maity Indian, b. 1965
“I never decide the medium first, my subjects constantly search and probe me to paint, to cast sculptures or film them.”
- Paresh Maity
Paresh Maity is an iconic Indian artist. He aims to bring as much 'Indianness' as he can to his paintings. His expression for the same is channeled through introducing motifs of Indian objects in his compositions.
His mannerism in terms of texturing his artworks is what truly sets him apart. His colour palette works on the play of contrasts, where monochrome meets a burst of colours. robust
Maity, a Padma Shri awardee, has held 83 solo exhibitions around the globe and has been honoured with several national and international awards.
