Kanchan Das Gupta is a painter born and trained in Kolkata. He earned his diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata.
His large canvases are renowned for their realistic detail in contrast with non-traditional figurations. His contemporary compositions are sardonic yet evoke serenity at first glance. His colour palette is usually monochrome, with a highly bold element cutting the monotony.
Collectors from India and abroad highly value his textured canvases. He has exhibited them regularly for the past two decades and has achieved many tokens recognition throughout his career.
