“Drawing is a sustainable tool in my creative pursuit; a singular line has umpteen nuances realising my imaginations. Drawing alone has driven me towards a fertile imagination, and drawing is the source of my metamorphosis”
-K. Laxma Goud
K. Laxma Goud (b. 1940) is a celebrated Indian painter, printmaker, and sculptor whose work stands out for its strong narrative ability as a traditional storyteller. Inspired by his childhood in rural Andhra Pradesh, his artworks vividly illustrate fantasy, humour, satire, vitality, and eroticism across paintings, prints, and sculptures.
Laxma Goud’s highly stylized figurations often feature lungi‑wearing tribal men and heavily ornamented saree‑wearing tribal women, accompanied by lush flora and fauna that add a rustic, earthy feel to his compositions. His vibrant colour palette highlights the figures and their intimate relationship with the natural world around them, drawing from the folk traditions and everyday life of rural Andhra Pradesh.
A highly awarded artist, K. Laxma Goud has received numerous adulations and honours throughout his distinguished career. His work has been exhibited in solo and group shows across India and internationally and is held in important public and private collections. For galleries, collectors, and art lovers seeking an artist who blends storytelling, folk aesthetics, and modernist sensibility, K. Laxma Goud is a key figure in contemporary Indian art.
