Shabir Hussain Santosh: A Journey Beyond Myth & Metaphor

Overview

Shabir Hussain (b. 1962) is a contemporary Indian artist and graduate of the College of Art, Delhi. Exposed early to painting and poetry, his practice reflects a deep engagement with creativity, imagination, and lyrical expression.

His artworks are known for their perceptive, free-flowing compositions and distinctive monochromatic palette. Through amorphous motifs of humans, birds, and trees, he creates evocative visual narratives inspired by the mystical landscapes of Kashmir, his place of origin.

Shabir Hussain’s paintings explore memory, nature, and emotional depth through subtle forms and atmospheric minimalism. His works reflect a poetic sensitivity that bridges abstraction and figurative suggestion. He has been featured in several public and private collections, establishing his presence within contemporary Indian art.
