“Even Red Can be Sad”
- Ram Kumar
An Oeuvres devoted to the cognitive and topographical mapping of Varanas emerged from Ram Kumar's visit to the city in the 1960s. Kumar's sensibility towards the moods was prolific, as seen in abstract cityscapes, melancholic sweeps of ochre and viridian with the occasional blues and yellows.
His earlier figurative works captured the urban predicament, reiterating the philosophy of German writer Franz Kafka. Kumar's tendency for process-based practice was evident in his compositions, abundant with visual metaphors, transcendental in expression yet grounded with artistic vocabulary.
Ram Kumar has numerous accolades to his name and has exhibited abundantly throughout his career.
