Ganesh Pyne Indian, 1937-2013

Overview

"Life has always seemed to me like a plant that lives on its rhizome. Its true life is invisible, hidden in the rhizome..."

- Ganesh Pyne

Ganesh Pyne born in 1937 in Kolkata is one of the pioneers of the Indian modernism movement.
Pyne saw death and suffering very early in his life. The images of the same never left his mind and his brush never forgot either. Through his paintings, he creates a world of his own. The objects/subjects are easily recognisable but the theme/mood remains intangible.
A majority of his works are in pen and ink sketches and create a pensive mood. Whereas, the canvases majorly see a recurrence of the colours black and blue.
His artworks have been displayed beyond boundaries.
